Nice to meet you! I'm the founder and the 'accidental' inventor of Cookie Candles!
It all started with a mermaid cake.
My daughter was turning 6 and had her heart set on a mermaid-themed birthday cake. I'm not a baker — I'm a decorator. So I did what any resourceful, commited, slightly sleep-deprived mum does. I grabbed a supermarket cake and went absolutely gang busters on the decorations. Fondant mermaid tails, crushed biscuit 'sand', the works! I was up until midnight trying to get floppy fondant mermaid tails to magically harden before the party the next morning. As you do.
At the party, I proudly told every guest: "No, I didn't make the cake — but I DID make every single decoration on it... EXCEPT the birthday candle."
And that was the moment.
A tiny spark hit me right in the hyperfocus centre of my ADHD brain. By the time I got home — leftover cake in hand, two sugar-crashed kids in tow — I had the beginnings of a concept. What if I could make the birthday candle too? What if it was edible?
Six months of development later, I had a functional wick. Three more months to get the cookie right. (Cookie baking is no joke). Another six months drafting patent paperwork while fine-tuning the technology. And then — I went all in.
Cookie Candles was born!
Without my kids, Cookie Candles wouldn't exist!
Meet the Family
Cookie Candles is a family business, born out of the beautiful chaos of raising two young girls (and a geriatric cat of questionable neurological status) in VIC, Australia. Our household runs on creativity, ADHD hyperfocus, sheer willpower and a whole lot of love.
Neurodiversity is inescapable at our house. My eldest daughter — the birthday girl who started it all — has combined ADHD, and my youngest daughter has autism (ASD level 2) WITH combined ADHD. We don't care for colouring in between the lines.
Our family knows firsthand how much the little moments of celebration matter. Remember, you're never too old to be celebrated!
Cookie Candles exist because birthdays deserve something special, something personal, something that makes people feel seen.

That's right. You can eat it!
Imagine this.
It's your child's birthday. All the family is here to celebrate the special occasion. You light their candle just as you did the year before, and everyone sings 'Happy Birthday'. They blow it out. Same old same old.
Hip hip...hooray.
BUT. You bought a Cookie Candle.
So instead of cutting the cake right away, you say, 'Okay, now for the best bit'. You pull out the wick. Your child looks at you with curiosity. 'What on earth is going on here?' they think to themselves. 'It's finally happened. Mum's gone mad.'
You say to your child with a wicked smile, "Now take a bite". Your child's face goes from curious, to completely flabbergasted. They think to themselves, 'Did mum just say...I can eat my candle!?'. Your child is apprehensive, but takes the Cookie Candle in to their little hands. The in-laws lean in a little closer.
Silence.
Until.
*MUNCH*
A smile.
Crumbs litter their face. Grandma declares "Oh WOW!" You CAN eat it!"
Everyone discovers that mum was right. It must be one of those Cookie Candles.
You've pulled it off. Best. Birthday. Ever.
The cake is cut and desert is served. Your kiddo eats cake, with Cookie Candle clutched in hand. Sadly, they're unwilling to share. You think to yourself...
'I better order one for myself next year'.
